DESCRIPTION:

Windows Systems Administrators are responsible for Windows servers and the operating systems software and its successful integration with the hardware and software of the major computing systems across the organization.  Windows Systems Administrators are responsible for installation and maintenance of the Windows-based operating configurations on all organization Windows servers and desktops and also serve as technical point of contact for engineering review boards considering all additions to or changes to the operating environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Attend Technical Exchange Meetings to deliberate on MOAs.  Ensure MOA is within the scope of work.
  • Evaluate server load and work with technical lead to implement tuning recommendations.
  • Support server maintenance and special projects, during extended work hours.
  • Construct servers: Offer technical configuration, setup, installation services, hardware and coordination for application projects.
  • Convey server outage/degradation to management.
  • Coordinate server installation.
  • Maintain Asset Management records.
  • Generate request for service support from internal/external service providers.
  • Confirm build report (procedure) is feasible, clear, and concise.
  • Confirm server baseline.
  • Apply baseline changes under technical lead oversight.
  • Server room support.
  • Supervise/support backup process.
  • Perform operating system software updates/upgrades.
  • Execute technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshooting for all “supported” servers in response to Help Desk Tickets.
  • Operational pager duty support.
  • Submit requests for hardware replacement.
  • Complete assigned change requests submitted by “internal” and “external” customers.
  • Present Build Reports for routine deliveries.
  • Aid customers in the development of a dedicated server build report as well as an internal build report.
  • Identify and execute established technical and workflow procedures.
